Requesting Software From SBGrid

If you need specific software that is not currently available in the SBGrid Software Suite, you can request its addition. Follow the steps below to submit a software request to the SBGrid team.

Step 1: Check Existing Software

Before submitting a request, please check the SBGrid Software List to ensure that the software you need is not already available.

Step 2: Gather Information

Prepare the following information about the software you want to request:

  • Software Name: The name of the software.
  • Version: The specific version you need (if applicable).
  • Description: A brief description of the software and its purpose.
  • Website/Source: The official website or source where the software can be obtained.
  • Dependencies: Any dependencies or special requirements needed for the software to run.
  • License: Information about the software's licensing terms.

Step 3: Submit the Request

You can submit your software request through the SBGrid support portal or by sending an email to the SBGrid support team. Include the information from Step 2 in your request.

Via Support Portal

  1. Go to the SBGrid Support Portal.
  2. Navigate to the "Submit a Request" section.
  3. Fill out the request form with the necessary information.
  4. Submit the form.

Via Email

  1. Compose an email to softwarerequest@sbgrid.org.
  2. Provide the information gathered in Step 2 in the body of the email.
  3. Send the email.

Step 4: Follow Up

After submitting your request, the SBGrid team will review it and may contact you for additional information. They will evaluate the feasibility of adding the requested software and keep you informed about the status of your request.

  • Priority: Requests are prioritized based on demand, compatibility, and licensing considerations.
  • Timeline: The time required to fulfill a request may vary depending on the complexity of the software and the current workload of the SBGrid team.
